Principally Speaking...
Greetings students, parents, and friends of Middletown High School. Please continue to
encourage our student scholars to do their best in the classroom. Your words of wisdom are a
great motivator for our student scholar’s academic growth.

Students of Middletown High School, please remember to throw your trash in the garbage
receptacles around campus, and not toss or leave empty containers on the ground. Tax payer
monies have facilitated the improvement of our campus, it is everyone’s responsibility to keep
our campus clean and neat.

Thank you for your support. Have a wonderful week!

MHS Happenings...
This week students gathered from around the county to aid the Lake County Wine Commission to assemble and get ready for the Gala scheduled for Saturday.

Then our MHS students visited the historical Lower Lake School House Museum on the way home! They learned lots from the tour.

Just a Word About California Community Colleges:

Community College Courses:
If you are taking a “College Course” a transcript must be submitted to me at the end of that course. If it is a course that UC believes fits their A-G curriculum they will give a 1 point GPA bump. There are qualifications to this statement:

  1. College must be accredited by one of the 7 former accrediting regional agencies.
  2. Course must be UC transferable.*
  3. Course must be at least 3 semester/4 quarter units in value (each).
  4. Course must clearly fall within an A-G subject area
  5. Course must be taken for a letter grade (no pass/fail).
  6. Letter grade of C or better must be earned (no C-).
*Non-transferrable English and Math courses may also meet portions of the Area B and Area C requirements.

Below is a link that will help us ascertain if your college course will be accepted by UC or CSU:

Most California Community College courses will transfer to colleges in other states. I believe that there is a belief that they will not transfer out-of-state, but that is just not true. Each college has the right to refuse credits but most will be accepted.
Anyone interested can email me and I will email you the UC PowerPoint on dual-enrollment.

Please Remember That Our Honors US History and Honors World History are Dual-Enrollment! Students will receive college credit without taking an AP exam! They are both A-G approved and will receive a full point GPA bump from both UC and CSU.
