Principally Speaking...
Greetings students, parents, and friends of Middletown High School.

Students of Middletown High School, please remember to throw your trash in the garbage cans
around campus. Do not toss or leave empty containers on the ground or on benches and tables.
It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our campus clean and neat.

Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching. Students please ensure that you complete and or turn
in any assignments that are due in your classes.

Best Wishes to our Boys and Girls Basketball Teams, who begin their seasons this week.

Thank you for your support. Have a fantastic week!

Students interested in taking a college course from Woodland Community College or Mendocino College for the Spring semester, please stop by my office to pick up the registration form. I need to have these in to Mendocino by Nov. 22nd and to Woodland by Dec. 2nd. Please do not wait until we get back from Thanksgiving break to take care of this. If you are enrolled in a College Course please come see me so we can choose your classes. Thank you!

Students interested in taking the SAT at Woodland Community College on Dec. 7th, registration ends Nov. 22nd. You can register online through your College Board account.

Senior To Do List for Next Week:

Finish up your UC and CSU applications - must be submitted by Dec. 2nd. Do not wait until the last minute or Thanksgiving break if possible.

Common App - complete and if I am giving you a recommendation, get me your brag sheet!

Login and create your FAFSA or CADAA account and create your invites to parents so they can create their accounts in preparation for the release on Dec. 1st.

Finish up and research scholarship applications. There are links below for more scholarship opportunities.

Not going to college? No problem, work on your classes and get everything caught up so you graduate. Credit Recovery students GET GOING!

Come see me if you have questions or need help! Please do not hesitate! I am here to help all of you!

Financial Aid Information:

Anticipated date the FAFSA and CADAA will open is December 1st. They are going through an initial process right now, trying to get rid of any bugs or problems that were encountered last year.
Students can create their account and invite contributors (parent/parents/guardians) to also create an account.
This way when it opens, you will be ready to go. Students need their own personal email account, honestly, this should be set up in their Freshman year because we also use it for dual-enrollment sign-ups. Students should not use their MUSD email!
The FAFSA and CADAA form actually help determine the different types of financial aid ply and pay the fee for the Common APP, only to find out that the University they were applying to did not charge an application fee. Do your research!

Links to college applications:

https://www.commonapp.org/ - Common Applicationwhich include:
Gift Aid - grants and scholarships
Self-help Aid - Loans and student employment
Federal Work Study Programs - these are better than a job because academics always come first with these positions.

Please let me know if you are interested in a “Cash for College” night. I would like to hold it in the first week of December if there is interest.

Scholarship Opportunities:

Students should be a part of the following organizations, who help search for scholarships:

Fastweb.com - https://www.fastweb.com/

immigrantsrising.org - https://immigrantsrising.org/

Parents who file separate tax returns need separate accounts.

Student name needs to be an exact match to Social Security Card, also student school records need to be an exact match for Cal Grant.

Contributors without a Social Security number should apply very early, during that time there has historically not been a manual verification process.

College applications are now open. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit! If you need my help please reach out! Also be sure to check with the school you are interested in applying to before using the Common App.
